Tobacco Free Campus to the Smoking/ Tobacco Task

WHEREAS, The current tobacco use policy was last update in 1994; and

WHEREAS, The Ohio Board of Regents passed a resolution recommending that each

Board of Trustees of the University System of Ohio implement its own
7
policy to establish its campus as tobacco-free; and

WHEREAS, A recent study has shown that tobacco free campuses have significantly
curbed the smoking habits of the students, faculty, and staff to make
campuses healthier environments; and
WHEREAS, A survey was completed and showed that 61.1% of students agree that
Wright State University should eventually be tobacco free; and
WHEREAS, A survey was completed and showed that 63.6% of the total population of

the University agree that Wright State University should eventually be

tobacco free; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, By the Student Government of Wright State University here
assembled, that:
(1) Wright State University should update their tobacco use policy to ensure
that it is compliant with all state laws; and
(2) The Student Government recommends a tobacco free campus to the
University’s Tobacco Task Force.
