6. Reason for this curriculum action:
PHRM 103, 104, and 105 are beneficial and relevant for students specializing in Medical Assistant II. Today health
institutions (namely Maui Medical Group and Kaiser Permanente) are requesting medical assistant applicants to be
knowledgeable on different types of drugs, treatments of disease, and medication administration. The PHRM courses
will replace General Education Electives (3). With the removal of BUSN157(3) as a required course, there will be a
decrease of three credits for the Medical Assistant II specialty from 64-69 to 61-66 credits.
