4. Reason for this curriculum action:
Currently students desiring both Certificates in Substance Abuse Counseling I and II must take two
Work Practicum courses, and because SOSE 193V is the only course offered, they take it twice.
Differentiating between SOSE 193V and 293V will indicate to students that they are expected to apply
knowledge and skills at a higher level of understanding the second time they take the course. In addition,
UHWO will accept both 193V and 293V for transfer but only one section of 193V. Credits 2-4.
