5. Reason for this curriculum action
A)The ECET advisory board recommends adding preparation for A+ Industry certification for PC
technicians and CCNA Cisco certification for network technicians. Need to add ETRO 130 and 285
for A+ and ETRO 140,240 for Cisco.
B)ECET has received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to implement curriculum for
training High Performance PC Cluster Technicians. MCC is a NSF National Center for Excellence
and a NSF Regional Education and Training Center for High Performance Computing. Need to add
ICS 251,252,258,275
C)When ECET was granted permanent status by the board of regents one ECET degree was
approved. The Provost, Dean of Instruction, and Unit Head asked the Program coordinator to
change ECET from the current two AS degree structure to a one AS degree structure with options
or tracks. Developed option structure for HPC Clusters, Networking, and Electronics.
D)Student Services/Counseling requested certificates of completion and achievement for students.
Developed CC, CA, AS and CC’c for options or tracks.
