Maui Community College Course Outline 1. Alpha and Number: Automotive 60 AMT 60 Course Title: Diagnosis and Repair Number of Credits 7 Date of Outline: January 9, 2007 2. Course Description: Applies diagnostic skills and techniques in advanced automotive mechanics technology with emphasis on realism in lab and shop operations. Includes students being prepared to take the ASE certification exam in the following areas: suspension and steering; electrical/electronics; engine performance; automatic transmission/transaxle; manual drive train and axles; brakes; and heating air. Prepares students for job placement, which includes: being able to write a resume and perform a job interview. 3. Contact Hours per Week: 15 hours – lecture/lab 4. Prerequisites: AMT 30, 40B, 40C, 41C, 40G, 43, 46, 50, 53, 55, or consent. Student must maintain a valid Driver’s license throughout the duration of the automotive course of studies. General Course Objectives: AMT 60 is an automotive course which prepares the students for the job market in the automotive field. This course helps the student to prepare for the ASE certification exams, includes a shop environment in which the students must be able to diagnose, create an estimate and repair vehicles.
