General Course Objectives:

Provides students with instruction of basic auto body skills and procedures.

Including instruction and training on the proper and safe handling of basic hand and

Power (electric and pneumatic) tools and materials used by repair technicians in the

Auto body repair trade.

Specific Course Competencies

Upon completion of ABRP 20E the student should be able to:

UNIT 1.

A. Describe the history, present environmental concerns and implications, and economic considerations of the auto body and related industries.

UNIT 2.

A.

Explain and demonstrate general shop safety practices and the values of productive working habits.

B.

Describe the in general responsibilities of an employer to the employees and the employees to the employer.

UNIT 3.

A.

Describe in general the types of vehicles manufactured today, their various methods of construction, and the different types of metals and plastics used in automobile manufacturing.

B.

Describe the design and nomenclature of the automobile body parts.

C.

Identify the different body, mechanical, and suspension components of the automobile using auto body repair manuals.

UNIT 4.

A.

Identify the different hand and power tools used in the auto body repair trade.

B.

Describe shop safety rules pertaining to the use and proper application of both hand and power tools.

C.

Demonstrate how to work with others in a safe and professional manner in completing their assigned class projects and tasks.

UNIT 5.

A.

Identify and describe the materials and supplies used during auto body repairs.

B.

Demonstrate proper procedures for the safe handling these materials and supplies.
