They may refer to manuals, manufacturer's specifications, codes of practice, or policy statements. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Prepare a spinning machine maintenance schedule. Performance criteria 1.1 Schedule identifies spinning machine sections and parts requiring routine maintenance in accordance with workplace procedures. 1.2 Schedule indicates timing and frequency of maintenance. 1.3 Procedures for maintenance are specified. Element 2 Carry out routine maintenance on a woollen ring spinning machine. Performance criteria 2.1 Maintenance is carried out in accordance with workplace procedures maintenance schedule. Range 2.2 sections and parts identified in schedule, timing and frequency, procedures specified in schedule. Maintenance records are kept in accordance with workplace procedures. Element 3 Rectify spinning machine mechanism and component faults. Range components and mechanisms are spindle assembly, spindle tape circuit, false twist unit, gear train, spindle drive train, builder mechanism, ring and ring holder, doffing mechanism, clutches, oiling system, variable speed mechanism, anti-snarl device. Performance criteria 3.1 Mechanism or component is removed and/or disassembled in accordance with workplace procedures to enable replacement or repair. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 4168 version 6 Page 3 of 3 3.2 Mechanism or component is assessed for replacement or repair in accordance with workplace procedures. 3.3 Replacement or repair is carried out in accordance with workplace procedures. 3.4 Mechanism or component is reassembled and/or replaced on spinning machine in accordance with workplace procedures. 3.5 Repaired mechanism is reset and/or tuned to operate to machine specification. Element 4 Identify sub-standard spinning performance. Performance criteria 4.1 Cause of sub-standard performance is identified and corrective action chosen in accordance with workplace procedures. 4.2 Corrective action is prioritised in relation to production schedule and resource constraints. Range resource constraints – labour, parts, finance. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
