Demonstrate knowledge of processing carried out in a tapescour.
Performance criteria
1.1
Tapescour sections are described in terms of their function and operation.

Tapescour processes are described in terms of treatment method and reasons
for process.

addition, liquor flow system, machine controls, heat recovery.

Chemical spillage emergency procedures are described in terms of workplace
and local authority requirements.
Element 2
Comply with company and statutory health, safety, and environment requirements.
Performance criteria
2.1
Company-supplied clothing, and hygiene and safety equipment and materials,
are worn and used according to workplace procedures and statutory
requirements.
2.2
Work methods comply with workplace procedures and statutory requirements to
minimise the risk of ill-health and injuries to self and others.
2.3
Unsafe and unhealthy conditions are identified and reported according to
workplace procedures.
Element 3
Process yarn during tapescour processing.
Performance criteria
3.1
Yarn is processed in accordance with workplace procedures.
Range
3.2
yarn hanks fed, production weighed, identified and recorded
according to workplace requirement, yarn unloaded, hanks
counted and stacked according to workplace practice.
Samples are taken in accordance with workplace procedures.

Element 4
Clean tapescour and work area.
Performance criteria
4.1
Bowls and chemical stock tanks are emptied and cleaned in accordance with
workplace procedures and local authority discharge requirements.
4.2
Tapescour area is kept clean and waste yarn is collected and sorted in
accordance with workplace procedures.
4.3
Cleanliness of equipment and work area complies with workplace procedures.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
