People credited with this unit standard are able to: inspect woven fabric; identify weaving and yarn faults contamination and imperfections; and maintain records. Performance criteria 1.1 Reasons for fabric inspection are described. Range 1.2 identify and rectify machine faults, identify and rectify yarn faults, identify and rectify set-up faults, meet product quality standards. Fabric types are identified and distinguished between. Range fabrics produced in the workplace. Element 2 Inspect fabric. Performance criteria 2.1 Fabric is prepared in perch for inspection according to workplace practice. Range 2.2 Faults are identified in the fabric and action taken according to workplace practice. Range 2.3 fabric identity confirmed, fabric aligned and threaded, machine speed set, lighting adequate, counters and measuring devices set. weaving department notified of faults, finishing department notified of faults, faults marked for mending. Records are maintained according to workplace practice. Range number of faults, type of faults, mending time estimates. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
