Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare for
and perform an engineering survey, process field observations,
and develop and present survey outcomes.

Explanatory notes
1
The following legislation and documentation must be complied with:
Cadastral Survey Act 2002;
Surveyor-General’s Rules for Cadastral Survey 2002/2 (the Surveyor-General’s
Rules);
Surveyor-General’s Ruling 2004/1 (for geodetic datum);
job specifications.

This unit standard does not qualify people to certify cadastral data. Candidates must
work under the direction of a licensed cadastral surveyor as required by the
Cadastral Survey Act 2002 and the Surveyor-General’s Rules.

Definition
Workplace procedures refer to documented procedures specific to an enterprise
which set out the quality management requirements for the business practice and
activities of that enterprise.

1.1

Construction data is researched and analysed and any errors, omissions, and
conflicts are identified and reported in accordance with workplace procedures.
Outcome 2
Perform an engineering survey and process field observations
Evidence requirements
2.1
Establish survey control in accordance with job requirements.
2.2
Survey measurement, observations and independent checks are undertaken in
accordance with job requirements.
2.3
Field data is reduced in accordance with job requirements.

Develop and present survey outcomes

which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that

Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies
to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMRs). The
CMR also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing
to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors
