People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare to construct onland control survey marks; construct and install on-land control survey mark support structures; site and place control survey ground marks; maintain onland control survey marks; and complete site records for on-land control survey marks. It includes the ground mark (eg pin) and its support structure (eg concrete block). It is also called a geodetic control mark. Workplace procedures refer to documented procedures specific to an enterprise which set out the quality management requirements for the business practice and activities of that enterprise. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Prepare to construct on-land control survey marks. Performance criteria 1.1 The location of underground services is identified from local authority and public utility records in accordance with workplace procedures. 1.2 The location and type of new survey marks are selected to meet job specifications. 1.3 Access to the site is gained in accordance with workplace procedures, the Cadastral Survey Act, and where relevant, the Trespass Act and/or the Public Works Act. Element 2 Construct and install on-land control survey mark support structures. Range a benchmark, one other mark. Performance criteria 2.1 The construction method used complies with the Surveyor-General’s Rules, local authority requirements, and job specifications. 2.2 The support structures are constructed and installed in accordance with the Surveyor-General’s Rules, local authority requirements, and job specifications. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 8778 version 6 Page 3 of 4 2.3 On-site safety practices are demonstrated in accordance with the site safety plan, and if work is taking place on a road reserve, the road controlling authority’s requirements. Element 3 Site and place control survey ground marks. Range a trig station, one other mark. Performance criteria 3.1 The type of ground mark is selected in accordance with job specifications. 3.2 The ground marks are sited in accordance with job specifications. 3.3 The ground marks are placed in accordance with the Surveyor-General’s Rules, local authority requirements, and job specifications. 3.4 On-site safety practices are demonstrated in accordance with the site safety plan, and if work is taking place on a road reserve, the road controlling authority’s requirements. Element 4 Maintain on-land control survey marks. Range at least two types. Performance criteria 4.1 Access to the site is gained in accordance with workplace procedures, and where relevant, the Trespass Act and/or the Public Works Act. 4.2 The foundation and anchor points are maintained in accordance with job specifications. 4.3 The support structures are maintained in accordance with Land Information New Zealand requirements, workplace procedures, and job specifications. 4.4 Maintenance confirms that the marks comply with the Surveyor-General’s Rules. Performance criteria 5.1 Site data for survey marks are recorded in accordance with the SurveyorGeneral’s Rulings, Land Information New Zealand requirements, workplace procedures, and job specifications. Range data includes but is not limited to – traverse marks. 5.2 The relationship of the support structure to the ground mark is recorded in accordance with workplace procedures. 5.3 Access notes are completed in accordance with workplace procedures. 5.4 Measurements are recorded in accordance with workplace procedures. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
