Performance criteria 1.1 Parts of the net and associated trawl gear are identified using nautical terminology. Element 2 Repair trawl net under supervision. Performance criteria 2.1 The twine size is selected appropriate to section of net to be repaired. 2.2 The needle is loaded according to the supervisor’s instructions. 2.3 The repair is carried out within the timeframe set by the supervisor. 2.4 The repair is carried out according to the supervisor’s instructions and company requirements. Range includes but is not limited to – uniform mesh size, net shape, lay or run of the net, tension, knots. Element 3 Describe and demonstrate the attachment of floats and groundlines to a trawl net. Performance criteria 3.1 The procedures to attach a groundline to a net are described in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions.
