People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare client for counteraction of unwanted colour reflect; counteract unwanted colour reflect; and complete follow-up actions. Explanatory notes This unit standard is expiring 1 Definitions Legislative requirements refer to the obligations of the employer and/or employee under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980. All work must comply with these requirements; following service may include but is not limited to – haircut, blow wave. 2 This unit standard is about counteracting unwanted reflects using the colour star. Evidence requirements 1.1 Consultation with the client identifies and confirms work needed. 1.2 The hair and scalp are analysed. Range porosity, elasticity, texture, density, length, scalp conditions, base colour, reflect. 1.3 Any unwanted colour reflect is identified. 1.4 Counteractive techniques are selected to meet confirmed outcome and are compatible with hair and scalp analysis. 1.5 The client is protected against water and/or chemical spillage. 1.6 Hair is prepared for the colour counteraction in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and selected technique. Range includes but is not limited to – oral, hands, nails, body, feet, hair, body piercing, clothing, footwear. Outcome 2 Counteract unwanted colour reflect.
