Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: explain how the company
quality assurance policies and procedures apply to the production of a
processed poultry product; ensure cleanliness of poultry processing area;
carry out poultry processing line operational checks; and collect samples for

Explain how the company quality assurance policies and procedures apply to the
production of a processed poultry product.
Performance criteria
1.1
The explanation links the company quality assurance policies and procedures to
the preservation of public health.
1.2
The explanation links the company quality assurance policies and procedures to
legislation.
Range
1.3

Employment Act 1992, Animal Products Act 1999.

the perceived value of the company products in the market.
Element 2
Ensure cleanliness of poultry processing area.
Performance criteria
2.1
Poultry processing area cleanliness is in accordance with the company quality
assurance policies and procedures.
2.2
Poultry processing area cleanliness is in accordance with the company safety
policies and procedures.
2.3
Poultry processing area cleanliness shortcomings are reported in accordance
with company operating procedures.
Element 3
Carry out poultry processing line operational checks.
Performance criteria
3.1
Poultry processing line operational checks are carried out in accordance with
the company quality assurance policies and procedures.
3.2
Corrective action for poultry processing line operational checks that have failed
to pass company quality assurance policies and procedures is carried out in
accordance with company operating procedures.
3.3
Poultry processing line operational checks are carried out in accordance with
the company safety policies and procedures.

Collect samples for analysis.
Range

assurance policies and procedures.

procedures.

Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
