current legislation.

Others are advised on arms licence requirements in accordance with the Arms
Act 1983 and the Arms Regulations 1992.

A, D, and T licence, B, C, and E endorsements, penalties.
Others are advised of arms types and restricted weapons in accordance with
the New Zealand Arms Code.
Element 2
Advise on the construction, operation, safety, and security requirements for arms,
restricted weapons, and ammunition.
Performance criteria
2.1
Others are advised on arms, restricted weapons, and ammunition relative to the
construction and function of each.
2.2
Others are advised of the safe handling and operation of firearms for each type
in accordance with the New Zealand Arms Code.
2.3
Others are advised of the security for arms, restricted weapons, and
ammunition when not in use, in accordance with the Arms Regulations 1992.

Demonstrate to others the use and care of firearms, ammunition, and restricted weapons.
Performance criteria
3.1
Safe handling and use of firearms and ammunition are demonstrated to others,
in accordance with legislative requirements and the New Zealand Arms Code.
3.2
Malfunctions of firearms are diagnosed, and corrective actions are
demonstrated to others in accordance with manufacturer’s requirements.

Maintenance of firearms is demonstrated to others in accordance with
manufacturer’s requirements.

Security and storage of firearms, ammunition, and restricted weapons are
demonstrated to others in accordance with the Arms Regulations 1992.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
