The purpose of these documents is to plan, manage and carry out forestry operations in a manner which is sustainable, environmentally and socially acceptable, physically achievable, and economically viable. 3 For the purpose of this unit standard, the term certifying agency standards refers to the standards of sustainable forest management defined by national and international certifying agencies, including but not limited to: International Standards Organisation (ISO), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as is appropriate to the particular forest, or forests, being managed. 4 Case studies may be used as the basis for this unit standard.
