Range: perennial rye grass, white clover. 1.2 Organic matter cycling is explained with reference to its effect on the physical conditions of soil. 1.3 Ley crop and tree crop rotation lengths, and the ratios between them, are listed. The influence of these factors on soil physical conditions is identified. element 2 Demonstrate knowledge of ley crop establishment. performance criteria 2.1 Base fertilisers are applied according to soil test results. 2.2 Seed mixes are made up using strains of pasture species of proven local performance. Range: perennial rye grass, short rotation ryegrass, white clover, other pasture grasses. 2.3 Sowing rates are those used in local farming practice. 2.4 Ley crop is established using local agricultural pasture establishment practices. Range: grass species, clover, weed species. 4.2 Agrichemicals are applied in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and safety precautions. 4.3 Cultivation practices ensure complete incorporation of ley crop residues.
