Explanatory notes 1 Definitions Enterprise – an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place, and/or where the trainee is employed. Enterprise procedures – actions which comply with the policies, systems, and directives in a particular enterprise. Enterprise procedure must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and subsequent amendments. Advanced extrusion tooling refers to – mechanically and thermally auto-centred pipe dies; multi-strand dies; co-extrusion dies for sheet, pipe, profile, and cablemaking. 2 For assessment, the performance of all outcomes must take place in accordance with enterprise procedures. Evidence requirements 1.1 The construction and applications of advanced extrusion tooling are described using engineering drawings. advanced extrusion tooling includes – mechanically and thermally auto-centred pipe dies; multi-strand dies; co-extrusion dies for sheet, pipe, profile, and cablemaking. Range Outcome 2 Describe the reasons for the removal and refitting of extruder screws, and remove and refit an extruder screw or screws. Evidence requirements 2.1 The reasons for removing, measuring, and refitting extruder screw or screws are described. 2.2 Screw or screws are removed using machine manufacturer’s specifications. 2.3 Screw or screws and barrel are cleaned and inspected for wear and damage. 2.4 Screw or screws are identified and fitted using machine manufacturer’s specifications.
