Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Demonstrate first aid relating to liquid bitumen and bitumen additives.
Evidence requirements
1.1
First aid for bitumen burns is demonstrated in accordance with the Bitumen
Burns Card.
burns – to the skin, encircling a part of the body, to the eye.
Range
1.2
First aid for chemical burns and/or skin irritation caused by additives is
demonstrated in accordance with specific SDS.
additives include but are not limited to – adhesion agent,
emulsifier, diesel, kerosene, mineral turpentine;
evidence is required of three additives.
Range
1.3
Preparation for transport of a patient with bitumen burns is demonstrated in
accordance with the Bitumen Burns Card.
1.4
Transfer of a patient with bitumen burns into medical care is demonstrated in
accordance with the Bitumen Burns Card.
