People credited with this unit standard are able to identify: spars; and running and standing rigging. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify spars. Evidence requirements 1.1 Types of spars are identified in accordance with boat type and designer specifications. Range 1.2 spar shapes and types, materials used in spars and rigging. Configuration of spars on the different types of boat are identified in accordance with boat designer specifications. Outcome 2 Identify running and standing rigging. Evidence requirements 2.1 The functions and locations of the forestays, backstays, baby stays, and shrouds are identified in accordance with boat designer specifications.
