People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare to make steel framing; measure and mark out steel framing; and make and assemble steel framing. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative requirements. 3 Any relevant engineering consent approvals must be followed where appropriate. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare to make steel framing. Evidence requirements 1.1 Job specifications are identified and verified in accordance with company and legislative requirements. 1.2 Tools and equipment suitable for making frames are identified and used in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and legislative requirements. Range may include but is not limited to – welding equipment, drill, clamps, measuring equipment, metal cutting equipment, markers, pop riveter. Outcome 2 Measure and mark out steel framing. Evidence requirements 2.1 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements. Range personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; environmental safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. 2.2 Frame is measured and marked out in accordance with job specifications, and all markings are legible. 2.3 Frame supports are measured and marked out in accordance with job specifications, and all markings are legible. Outcome 3 Make and assemble steel framing. Evidence requirements 3.1 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements. Range personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; environmental safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. 3.2 Material is cut and shaped, and all measurements are accurate in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. 3.3 Drilling is carried out in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. 3.4 Frame is laid out and clamped in preparation for assembly in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. 3.5 Pillars to suit exterior cladding are fitted in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. 3.6 Reinforcing and bracing are added to frame as necessary in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. Range 3.8 Frame alignment measurements are checked and comply with the job specifications. 3.9 Anti-corrosion treatment is carried out on the metal in accordance with job specifications and company requirements. 3.10 Made-up fabric is fitted on frame in accordance with job specifications and legislative requirements. 3.11 Tools and equipment are returned to their places and the work area is cleaned in accordance with company requirements.
