Element 1
Describe the structure, activities, and services of the rural servicing industry.
Performance criteria
1.1
The structure of the rural servicing industry is described in terms of the functions
of its component organisations and their interrelationships.
Range
1.2
Commercial activities are described in terms of their relationship with the rural
servicing industry.
Range
1.3
rural servicing companies, industry organisations, ‘industry good’
organisations, processing companies, regulatory authorities,
associated companies, supply companies.
commercial activities include but are not limited to – importing,
exporting, purchasing, retailing, processing, manufacturing,
warehousing, financing, advising, marketing, broking.
External factors are analysed in terms of their affect on rural businesses.

Describe the purpose and function of the employing company.
Performance criteria
2.1
Value statements of the company are analysed in terms of their application to
the business of employee’s work unit.
Range
mission statement, vision statement, values, goals.
2.2
Company structure is described in terms of functional relationships with
employee’s work unit.
2.3
Communication networks are described in terms of national office and local
branch, within local branch, and between branch and clients.
2.4
Company expectations are described in terms of job description requirements,
performance standards, and general code of conduct for all employees.

Element 3
Describe the communication requirements unique to rural servicing clients, and client and
business relationships.
Performance criteria
3.1
The importance of meeting client expectations and requirements is described in
relation to time and timing of service, and availability and delivery of product.
3.2
The time and timing of communication with clients outside the rural servicing
outlet is described in relation to client availability.
3.3
The importance of establishing good client relations is described in terms of the
implications of long-term relationships between the rural servicing business and
the farming business.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
