NZQA registered unit standard 23302 version 3 Page 1 of 3 Title Dispatch compost products and complete documentation at a composting facility Level 3 Purpose Credits 6 This unit standard is for people working in the composting sector of the resource recovery industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to dispatch compost products, and complete documentation related to product dispatch at a composting facility. Classification Resource Recovery> Composting Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used in accordance with company procedures. PPE may include but is not limited to – gloves, eye protection, footwear, overalls, hearing protection, respirator or facemask, high-visibility clothing, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, eye wash kit, face shield/mask; hard hat. 2 Range Compost products may include but are not limited to – composts, mulches, soil conditioners, natural and blended soils for landscaping, special purpose soils, potting mixes, loose fill playground surfacing, and various recycled organic products for a range of specialised applications; evidence is required for two different products. 3 Definitions Company procedures mean the documented methods for performing work activities and include health and safety, environmental, site, and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Organic in the resource recovery industry refers to materials that are putrescible or are of animal or vegetable origin. Range 1.2 correct interpretation of dispatch order. Product dispatch requirements are checked with product and transport availability in accordance with company procedures. Range dispatch requirements may include but are not limited to – job number, client name, product type, date dispatched, details of transport, amount or volume of product. 1.3 Requests are made to relevant personnel for specified quantity of specified product to be prepared and/or delivered to dispatch area in accordance with company procedures. 1.4 Product is measured and quantity for dispatch is confirmed and recorded in accordance with company procedures. 1.5 Product dispatch is confirmed with contractor and/or driver in accordance with company procedures. 1.6 Machinery, equipment and labour required to dispatch the product are identified and organised in accordance with company procedures. Range machinery and equipment may include but are not limited to – weighbridge, load shifting machinery, hoppers, conveyors, calculator, recording equipment. Outcome 2 Complete documentation related to product dispatch at a composting facility. Evidence requirements 2.1 The dispatch information is documented accurately and promptly in accordance with company procedures. 2.2 The driver is provided with load documentation and delivery note in accordance with company procedures.
