clean-up of illegally dumped waste.

Explanatory notes
1
All work practices must comply with:
Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996;
Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992;
Litter Act 1979;
Resource Management Act 1991;
local authority requirements for waste disposal.

Hazard controls, safety procedures, and personal protective equipment must be used
throughout operations in accordance with company procedures

Definitions
Company procedures mean the documented methods for performing work activities
and include health and safety, environmental, and quality management requirements.
They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements.
Dangerous waste refers to waste that meets the definition for dangerous goods
included in the Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods 2005, or that may penetrate
the skin of collectors, such as syringes, broken glass, or sharp metal edges.

Manage the clean-up of illegally dumped waste.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Illegal dumping is defined and described in terms of any required preliminary
actions in accordance with legislation and company procedures.

Management ensures that an illegally dumped non-hazardous waste is
processed in accordance with local authority requirements and company
procedures.

Management ensures that any illegally dumped dangerous waste is processed
in accordance with legislation and company procedures.
includes where necessary – notifying emergency services,
determining ownership of waste;

authority, arranging for collection by authorised collector.

which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
