Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Describe the operational characteristics and performance of a hand-held drill borer. Evidence requirements 1.1 The operational characteristics and performance of a hand-held pneumatic or electrical drill borer are described in terms of their use in an underground operation. Range may include but is not limited to – drill borer, safety features, hoses, connectors, drill rods, bits, water, compressed air, cables, oil bottle, air leg, controls, operating procedures. Outcome 2 Check and describe working place conditions and safety equipment for a hand-held drill borer. Evidence requirements 2.1 Working place conditions are checked and described in terms of effects on the task in hand. Range 2.2 Drill borer safety features are checked and described in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range 2.3 may include but is not limited to – drill borer, stability, floor levels, floor surface, ground condition and stability, compressed air pressure, water supply, gas management, dust, ventilation. may include but is not limited to – pressure valve, filters, safety clips, support equipment, air leg controls. Personal protective equipment for working with a hand-held drill borer is described in terms of the task in hand and company procedures. Outcome 3 Mark out and drill face in accordance with blast design. Outcome 4 Select drilling equipment. Evidence requirements 4.1 Drill bits, rods, drill borer machine, air leg, and other equipment are selected in accordance with ground conditions and blast plan requirements. 4.2 Pre-start checks are carried out in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range checks include but are not limited to – hoses, air pressure, water supply, leaks, flushing, connectors, safety clips, control valves, stored energy. Outcome 5 Operate a hand-held drill borer in an underground operation. Evidence requirements 5.1 The drill borer machine is operated in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer specifications, and the resultant hole is drilled to required length and diameter. Outcome 6 Remove and store drilling equipment, record and report defects, and complete documentation. Evidence requirements 6.1 Machine is removed and stored in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. 6.2 Defects are recorded and reported in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. 6.3 Documentation is completed in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures.
