Perform administrative procedures for reticulated gas connections,

People credited with this unit standard are able to perform administrative
procedures related to: new reticulated gas connections; reticulated gas
reconnections following a permanent reticulated gas disconnection;
relocating a gas service pipe and/or gas measurement system (GMS); and
reticulated gas disconnections.

Definitions
Company procedures refer to the documented methods for performing work
activities, and include health and safety, environmental, and quality management
requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements.
Connection refers to the supply of gas to a property.
Customer refers to but is not limited to – property owner, developer, channel partner,
service provider.
GMS refers to gas measurement system.
LPG refers to liquid petroleum gas.
Reticulated gas refers to either natural gas or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Perform administrative procedures related to new reticulated gas connections.
Range
connections – single, multiple (single service pipe multiple GMS, multiple pipe
multiple GMS).
Performance criteria
1.1
Customer details are recorded in accordance with company procedures.
1.2
The location of the proposed connection(s) is established with the customer or
contractor in accordance with company procedures.
1.3
The closest network is established in terms of the proposed connection required
in accordance with company procedures.
1.4
Environmental considerations related to the proposed connection(s) are
established in terms of the closest network in accordance with company
procedures.
Range
considerations may include but are not limited to – state highway,
urban route, side of street, right of way, local authority impacts.
1.5
The network owner is identified in accordance with company procedures.
1.6
Networks are identified in terms of their type and specific requirements.
Range
1.7
type – low, medium, intermediate, high pressure, LPG, natural
gas;
requirements may include but are not limited to – soil type, pipe
installation methods and environment (provision for an open
trench), length of the service pipe, timeframes.
GMS location for proposed connection(s) is established with the customer or
contractor in accordance with company procedures.

Perform administrative procedures for reticulated gas reconnections following a permanent
gas disconnection.
Performance criteria

The location of the proposed reconnection is established with the customer or
contractor in accordance with company procedures.
2.3
The closest network to the proposed reconnection is established in accordance
with company procedures.
2.4
The presence or absence of an existing gas service is established in
accordance with company procedures.
2.5
The network owner is identified in accordance with company procedures.
2.6
Networks are identified in terms of their type and specific requirements.
Range
type – low, medium, intermediate, high pressure, LPG, natural gas
requirements include but are not limited to – status of existing
service pipe, timeframes.
2.7
GMS location for proposed reconnection is established in accordance with
company procedures.
2.8
The input rating of appliances for proposed reconnection is established in
accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and company procedures.
2.9
The recorded information is sent to the relevant network and/or GMS owner in
accordance with company procedures.

4.1

The location of the proposed disconnection is established with the customer or
contractor in accordance with company procedures.
4.3
Type of disconnection is established in accordance with the customer
requirements and company procedures.
Range
removal of gas service pipe – transitional, permanent;
status of existing service, timeframes.
4.4
The network and GMS owner are identified in accordance with company
procedures.
4.5
The recorded information is sent to the relevant network and/or GMS owner in
accordance with company procedures.
4.6
Information relevant to the disconnection is provided to the customer in
accordance with company procedures.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
