The general functions of the urinary system are described. Range water balance, electrolyte balance, removal of waste products. Range Outcome 2 Describe the formation, composition, storage, and excretion of urine. Evidence requirements 2.1 The formation of urine in the nephron is described. Range 2.2 filtration, selective reabsorption, secretion. Normal urine is described. Range 2.3 appearance, odour, specific gravity, pH, volume, constituents. Regulation of the volume of urine produced is described. Range 2.4 antidiuretic hormone and aldosterone. The normal storage and excretion of urine is described. Range bladder, reflex and conscious nerve impulses, urethral sphincters, bladder and abdominal muscles.
