NZQF NQ Ref Version 1298 Page 1 of 5 2 National Certificate in Electrical Equipment (Level 2) Level 2 Credits 45 Purpose This is the introductory qualification for people currently working, or intending to work with electrical equipment for supply to electricians, electronic and data specialists, and enthusiasts, in the electrotechnology industry. The qualification covers knowledge of electricity at an introductory level, electrotechnology components, customer service skills, specific electrical equipment knowledge to assist with equipment protection and selection, and legislation relating to electrical equipment in the electrotechnology industry. Holders of this qualification have knowledge and skills of: first aid and life threatening conditions safe practices in an electrical workplace mathematics for electrical equipment customer service theft and fraud in a retail or distribution environment time management electrical equipment and accessories electrical equipment processing. As this qualification represents a foundation for the industry, all unit standards are compulsory. This qualification is the prerequisite to the National Certificate in Electrical Equipment (Level 3) [Ref: 1469] which further develops knowledge and skills in electrical equipment. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). The revision ensures that the qualification remains achievable following the reviews of standards in the Core Health and Stock Control domains. Changes to structure and content expiring standards 6401 and 6402 were replaced by standards 26551 and 26552 expiring standard 11970 was replaced by standard 24997 total credit value increased from 43 to 45 titles of standards 57, 376 and 12349 were updated. All new candidates will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 2 of the qualification. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.
