People credited with this unit standard are able to: charge the oxygen steelmaking vessel; transport ladles of liquid steel; and remove and replace the oxygen steelmaking vessel. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Charge the oxygen steelmaking vessel. Evidence requirements 1.1 Scrap baskets are provided to the oxygen steelmaking vessel in a timely manner to ensure continuity of oxygen steelmaking operations. 1.2 The spatial position of scrap baskets during transit ensures the safety of personnel and plant. 1.3 The release of scrap into the furnace is controlled to ensure that all scrap enters the oxygen steelmaking vessel. Outcome 2 Transport ladles of liquid steel. Range Outcome 3 Remove and replace the oxygen steelmaking vessel. Evidence requirements 3.1 Cranes are placed in tandem to ensure that correct hook up to the lifting beam is achieved. 3.2 The oxygen steelmaking vessel is lifted and removed, or replaced, in accordance with company documentation.
