People credited with this unit standard are able to: plan the erection of a non-electrical sign; erect a non-electrical sign; and complete on-site work. Classification Graphic Arts > Signmaking Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard applies to all signage to be erected or fixed to structures except for those requiring an electrical connection. Signs include but are not limited to those made from – timber, glass, plastic, metal, stone, concrete, polystyrene, vinyl. 2 All work practices shall meet the requirements of relevant legislation, including Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Resource Management Act 1991, and the requirements of industry codes of practice and documented enterprise procedures in respect to health, safety, and environmental matters. 3 Reference to company policy means any policies, procedures, and requirements of the company involved, and the ethical codes of relevant professional management. This unit standard is Outcomes and evidence requirements expiring Outcome 1 Plan the erection of a non-electrical sign. Evidence requirements 1.1 Job specifications are determined and confirmed prior to erection. 1.2 Planned job sequence meets agreed completion time and is coordinated with other personnel. 1.3 Materials and equipment required for installation are determined and arranged to meet job schedule. Outcome 2 Erect a non-electrical sign. Evidence requirements 2.1 Position of erected sign complies with job specifications. 2.2 On-site assembly is completed to specifications. 2.3 Fixings and fastening of compatible material are installed to manufacturer's requirements and to job specifications. 2.4 Sign is erected to schedule. Outcome 3 Complete on-site work. Evidence requirements 3.1 Site clean-up is completed as specified in the contract or to comply with company policy. 3.2 Final documentation is completed accurately and legibly.
