The last date for enrolment into this reviewed qualification is 31 December 2017. Reverse transition Version 3 of this qualification contains a standard that will expire at the end of December 2016. People wishing to complete this version of the reviewed qualification will need to gain credit for standard 58 before it expires on 31 December 2016. People who do not gain credit for standard 58 by this date but who wish to complete this version can use the specified reverse transition– see table below. All standards listed are required. The qualification covers skills and knowledge in the following areas: fire protection principles and industry knowledge; engineering measurement; fire extinguishers and fire hose reels; first aid and resuscitation; health and safety; trade mathematics; customer service; communications and report writing. The qualification can typically be achieved in the course of a two-year traineeship or apprentice programme. It leads to the National Certificate in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Level 4) [Ref: 0570] and the National Certificate in Fire Protection Systems Technology (Inspection and Testing) (Level 4) [Ref: 0864]. People who have completed this qualification will already have significant credits towards the National Certificate in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Level 4) [Ref: 0570]. Special Notes All persons who need to charge compressed gas containers are required to hold an approved filler certificate issued by a test certifier who is approved to certify the competence of approved fillers in accordance with the Hazardous Substances (Compressed Gases) Regulations 2004. The approved filler certification does not form part of this qualification. Compulsory standards Award of NZQF National Qualifications Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Changes to structure and content included: titles, levels, and credits of reviewed standards updated; Elective section removed, making all standards compulsory; standard 2824 replaced by 21911 and 21912; standards 9014 and 9019 replaced by 23585; standards 17737 and 17738 replaced by 23586; and standards 1279, 1312, 1979, 3488, 3490, 3491, 3501, 7123, 8489, 9017, 9018, 10790, 10791, and 12349 removed from the qualification; standard 497 introduced to the qualification.
