New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 24829 version 1 Page 2 of 3 Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Install and nail rail panels. Performance criteria 1.1 Posts are positioned consistent with fence design. 1.2 Spacing between rails is consistent throughout the whole panel and matches the plan. 1.3 Rail joins are on alternate posts where possible, butted neatly or mitred, to maximise strength. 1.4 Rails are fixed with galvanised nails at each post and joined with nails skewed in opposing directions as near to edge as is practical. Element 2 Hang a wooden single gate. Performance criteria 2.1 Gudgeons are fitted tightly into end assembly. 2.2 Gate opens fully back to fence with zero binding. 2.3 Gate is positioned level with top of strainer. 2.4 Single gate latch post is level with top of gate, parallel with side, with gate overlap of latch post 50mm. 2.5 Latch staple is positioned 20mm lower than point where latch is fixed onto gate, with gate movement 40mm maximum when shut. 2.6 Hinges are positioned maximum distance apart as possible and bearing on both gudgeons. 2.7 Minimal gap between gate end and strainer back is ensured. Element 3 Hang double gates. Performance criteria 3.1 Gudgeons are fitted tightly into end assemblies. 3.2 Gates open fully back to fence with zero binding. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 24829 version 1 Page 3 of 3 3.3 Double gates are positioned with top line consistent between strainers with no overlap, and up to 50mm gap when closed. 3.4 Latch staple is positioned 20mm lower than point where latch is fixed onto gate, with gate movement 40mm maximum when shut. 3.5 Minimal gap between gate end and strainer back is ensured. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
