Transition Arrangements
This qualification has been reviewed and replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in
Fellmongery and Leather Processing (Level 3) [Ref: 2486]
Last date for entry into the replaced National Certificate is 31 December 2016.
Last date for award of the replaced National Certificate is 31 December 2018.
It is recommended that candidates currently enrolled in this qualification who will be unable
to complete the qualification by the 31 December 2018 transfer to the replacement
qualification listed above.
Any candidate enrolled into expiring unit standard 22160 of [Ref: 0687] must complete and
report the assessment before 31 December 2015.
Version 4 of this qualification contains an expiring unit standard for which replacement unit
standards have now been registered. For the purposes of this qualification, people who
have gained credit for the replacement unit standards are exempt from the requirement to
gain credit for the expiring unit standard.

Purpose
This qualification recognises both the core and specialist knowledge and skills required to
work safely and productively in a range of functions within the fellmongery industry. The
compulsory section underpins all the functions and the elective allows people to gain
recognition of the specialist skills required within the industry.
People who have completed this qualification can continue a career pathway in this sector
and may choose to work towards the National Certificate in Fellmongery Processing with
strands in Slipe Wool Grading, Pickled Pelt Grading, and Pickled Pelt Processing
[Ref: 0688], and the National Certificate in Fellmongery Processing (Knowledge of Slipe
Wool and Pickled Pelt Production) [Ref: 0913].

Requirements for Award of Qualification
This qualification will be awarded to people who have met the requirements of the
compulsory and elective sections.
Compulsory
All the standards listed are required.
Elective
A minimum of 25 credits at Level 2 or above is required from the domain listed.
Award of NQF Qualifications
Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.
Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the
purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided in the Qualifications Authority Rules
and Procedures publications available at www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/.
Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions
and retain their identification number (Id). Any version of a standard with the same Id may be used to meet
qualification requirements that list the Id and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.

Changes to structure and content

Processing domain.
 Removal of standard 1304 from qualification.
 Decrease in overall credit total from 62 to 53.
People currently working towards version 2 of this qualification may complete that version
or transfer their results to version 3.
All versions of this qualification will be recognised by the New Zealand Industry Training
Organisation.
This qualification contains standards that replace an earlier standard. For the purposes of
this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standard will be exempt
from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.
