Purpose
This unit standard is intended for people who are responsible
for implementing a livestock farming production plan in a
specific farming context.

Explanatory notes
1
The livestock farming production plan and its implementation must comply with the
Animal Welfare Act 1999, the Resource Management Act 1991 and relevant codes of
welfare.

Definitions
Farming operations in this context may include but is not limited to feeding livestock,
animal health procedures, shearing, velveting, weighing livestock, buying and selling
livestock.
Production targets refer to the quantified output for a livestock farm for a defined
period, which may include but is not limited to production units for - weight gain,
condition score gain, livestock carrying capacity, milk production, meat production,
wool production, or velvet production.
Workplace procedures refer to verbal or written instructions to staff on procedures
within a farming operation.

Assessment for this unit standard should be achieved in the context of a specific
farming operation.

Learners must implement an existing farming livestock production plan that they may
or may not have been involved in creating.

Manage day to day livestock farming operations and tasks that influence
production targets in accordance with the plan.

Implement adjustments to day to day livestock farming operations and tasks in
accordance to changes in the plan.
Range

targets and other variables such as seasonal conditions, product
price fluctuations, market conditions.

Comply with all market regulatory requirements according to workplace
procedures.

Maintain records according to workplace procedures.

Monitor and report progress on the plan.
