It is required that people seeking credit for this unit standard will demonstrate competence and be assessed in the workplace. This can be through paid or unpaid employment, or in placements in a service provider workplace negotiated by an education provider. An ability to integrate theory with practice in the workplace must be demonstrated. This will call for a variety of modes of assessment and forms of evidence. Evidence is required to show consistency of performance across a range of situations and to demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and skill in the principles and practices directly relating to the competent performance of the elements to the standard defined in the performance criteria. Range: 1.2 Quality safeguards are described for an employment support service provider in Aotearoa New Zealand who is providing services to Māori and Tauiwi disabled people. Range: 1.3 evidence is required in relation to the characteristics of quality defined in one resource listed in special note 8. quality safeguards include - standards and best practice guidelines; quality safeguards in the resources referenced at special note 8; codes of ethics; operational procedures; external evaluation; professional supervision. Evidence is required of five examples of quality safeguards. The role and function of quality safeguards is explained and illustrated by examples from service providers in employment support. Range: evidence is required of two examples from employment support service providers, at least one of whom is from Aotearoa New Zealand.
