Classification Adult Education and Training > Design and Development of Adult Education and Training Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definitions Learning session is defined as a learning or training event that can be part of a course, but has its own internal coherence in terms of outcomes and subject matter coverage, and is sufficiently discrete to be able to stand on its own. Stakeholders refer to the tutor/trainer, session designer, adult learners, provider, client organisation(s). 2 Range Evidence of three different learning sessions of at least 30 minutes duration each is required for this unit standard. 3 Learning session designs must meet stakeholder requirements and comply with relevant legislation. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Define learning outcomes for adult learning sessions. Evidence requirements 1.1 Learning outcomes are defined in accordance with the anticipated learning needs of the stakeholders. 1.2 Observable and measurable statements of performance that are achievable within the specified timeframes of the learning sessions are defined in the learning outcomes. Evidence requirements 2.1 Selection and scope of session content are matched to defined learning outcomes, level(s) of learner competency, and available time and resources. 2.2 The selected session content is sequentially structured to facilitate the achievement of learning outcomes. Outcome 3 Plan delivery processes of learning sessions. Evidence requirements 3.1 Planned delivery methods are matched to learning outcomes and session content. 3.2 The expected range of learning styles is accommodated in the planned delivery methods. 3.3 Provision for learners to practise, give and receive feedback, and reflect on their learning experience, is included in the planning. 3.4 Achievement of learning outcomes and promotion of the transfer of learning are supported by the selection and sequencing of delivery methods. Range 3.5 may include but is not limited to – introduction, explanation, demonstration, practice, consolidation, delivery of information, interaction. Available resources are matched with intended delivery and assessment methods. Outcome 4 Design assessment activities for learning sessions. Range includes – formative assessment; may include – summative assessment. Evidence requirements 4.1 Assessment activities are designed to measure learners' performance against learning outcomes. Evidence requirements 5.1 Review criteria are established and documented to meet stakeholder requirements. 5.2 Provision for stakeholder feedback, analysis of the feedback, and refinement of session design is included in review plan.
