Environmental management system audit: a systematic and documented verification process of objectively obtaining and evaluating evidence to determine whether an organisation’s environmental management system conforms to defined audit criteria. Evidence requirements 1.1 The types of environmental auditing programmes and reasons for conducting these types of audits in the dairy industry are explained. Outcome 2 Demonstrate environmental audit techniques for a dairy industry enterprise. Evidence requirements 2.1 Environmental audit techniques are carried out to meet enterprise requirements. Range record review, verification and test, physical inspections. 2.2 Documents are searched and assessed in terms of location of departmental evidence, and identifying specific locations to inspect. 2.3 A range of communication skills are used to elicit information in terms of carrying out environmental audits. Range 2.4 commmunication skills include but are not limited to – questioning, observing, listening, summarising. Responses are recorded and transferred to audit notes in accordance with enterprise requirements. Outcome 3 Identify and document accurate environmental audit findings, and prepare an environmental audit report for a dairy industry enterprise. Evidence requirements 3.1 Types of environmental audit findings are classified to meet enterprise requirements. 3.2 Environmental audit report is written according to the requirements of enterprise and/or the organisation requesting the audit, and the audit criteria requirements. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
