purpose:
This unit standard covers setting and monitoring of a system
which automatically applies a stripe of powder particles
through an electrostatic field to the internal surface of a can
body seam weld. Such a system is comprised of a powder
feed unit, powder application arm, powder heating and
cooling (curing), and surplus powder recovery.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: set up,
monitor, and adjust an automated internal powder stripe
applicator.

Definitions
Product specifications refers to the documented
requirements of the manufactured item.
Setup, in the context of this unit standard, is
synonymous with the term changeover. Either term
may be used in the reading and interpretation of this
unit standard.
Worksite procedures means all documented operational
procedures put in place by the candidate’s employer.
These include: site safety procedures; equipment
operating procedures; standard job procedures; and
procedures for the handling and disposal of materials
and waste.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of
practice and documented worksite safety procedures
(where these exceed the code) for personal, product,
and worksite safety, and must meet the obligations
required under current legislation.

1992; Resource Management Act 1991; Hazardous
Substances and New Organisms Act 1996.

and selected in accordance with worksite procedures.

Applicator arm and filters are cleaned in accordance with worksite procedures.

Powder application rate is set in accordance with worksite procedures and
product conforms to specification.
Range:
