Demonstrate knowledge of certification requirements for the meat

This unit standard is recommended for supervisors and
compliance staff who are employed in a meat processing
operation and require in-depth knowledge of the certification
requirements for exporting animal products.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of: the certification system for exporting meat
products and certification requirements for export markets.

Legislation and regulations relevant to this unit standard include but are not limited to
– Animal Products Act 1999, Animal Products Regulations 2000.

Definitions
Organisational requirements – instructions to staff on policies and procedures that
are documented in memo, electronic, or manual format and available in the
workplace;
OMARs – Overseas Market Access Requirements. It outlines overseas country
requirements for animal products exported from New Zealand.
OAP – Official Assurances Programme. A programme that describes the procedures
that must be followed to receive an official assurance to accompany exported animal
material.

Outcome 1
Demonstrate knowledge of the certification system for exporting meat products.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The reasons for the requirement to certify export meat products are described in
terms of regulations and legislation.

terms of legislative requirements.

Reasons why a product may not meet certification requirements are identified

Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.

Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies
to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR). The
CMR also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing
to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors
