People credited with this unit standard are able to produce signs using CNC systems. Classification Printing > Signmaking Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definitions CNC refers to computer numerical control. Company procedures refer to the documented procedures used by the organisation carrying out the work and applicable to the tasks being carried out. They may include but are not limited to – standard operating procedures, site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, codes of practice, quality assurance procedures, housekeeping standards, charging of time and materials, management of drawings and documentation, procedures to comply with legislative and local body requirements. Tools and equipment may be one or more of: CNC controlled router, laser, engraver, water jet cutter. 2 A minimum of two different signs is required. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Produce signs using CNC systems. Evidence requirements 1.1 CNC tools and equipment are set up and checked for operation in accordance with manufacturers’ and job requirements, and company procedures. 1.2 Sign is cut in accordance with job requirements and company procedures. 1.3 Completed signs are checked for compliance with the job specifications in accordance with company procedures.
