Nursing College of Health & Human Sciences Purdue University First-Year Transfer Guide 2014-2015 The following is a suggested Ivy Tech course sequence, which includes course requirements for this degree, for students who are interested in transferring into this degree in the College of Health & Human Sciences at Purdue University-West Lafayette. You must consult with an academic advisor to determine which courses should be chosen to receive the most credit at the receiving Purdue University. Semester 1 ENGL 111 English Composition 3 APHY 101 Anatomy and Physiology I 3 CHEM 101 Introductory Chemistry I 3 PSYC 101 Introduction to Psychology 3 Semester 1: 12 Semester 2 APHY 102 Anatomy and Physiology II 3 CHEM 102 Introductory Chemistry II 3 MATH 200 Statistics 3 PSYC 201 Lifespan Development 3 SOCI 245 or SOCI 252 or SOCI 253 Cultural Diversity in US or Social Problems or Introductory Social Psychology 3 Semester 2: 15 Specific Degree Transfer Requirements: To be considered for admission to the School of Nursing as a transfer student, an applicant must have a minimum 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) current college GPA, have completed at least 12 semester credit hours (or equivalent) at a regionally accredited college or university, including completion of at least six hours of college-level natural science courses (biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, etc.) with grades of B or higher. Admission is selective. The best qualified applicants are selected from the pool of applicants. Transfer applicants will be considered only for fall semester admission. Purdue evaluates Nursing applications once each year. Nursing transfer applications must be complete by May 1. A student who is admitted to Nursing will begin as a freshman in the nursing program and is projected to complete the program in 8 semesters (4 years from the fall semester of admission.) Depending on space availability and completion of necessary prerequisites listed above, it may be possible for a very few transfer students to actually complete the program in 6 - 7 semesters. Actual transfer credit will not be posted until an official transcript has been received and processed by the Office of Admissions. Dual Credit courses taken in high school may not be transferable in all cases. Courses taken online or via distance education may have equivalencies that are different than courses taken in the classroom.
