Class Times: Lessons By Appointment
Office Hours: MON/WED, 3:30-4:00PM
GENERAL INFORMATION: Lesson times are arranged individually.
Throughout the course of the semester you will be graded on
Attendance (50%), Preparation (25%), and Quantities of Literature
(25%), both of which result in Participation of 50%. This will be
covered during the semester. The more music you play, a better
grade will result as well as a better “player.” If you have to miss a
lesson for any reason, you are entitled to make-up a lesson. (See me
to schedule any make-ups). Make-up lessons will only be given
provided that you inform me of the absence prior to the lesson missed.
You are required to play a jury at the end of the semester.
Preparation for juries will be a part of your lessons.
LAB
REQUIREMENTS for this class are attendance at gigs and extra
functions that we play.
ATTENDANCE,
MAKE-UP
LESSONS
AND
WITHDRAWAL
POLICIES: Students are required to notify the instructor no
later than 24 hours in advance, excepting documented
emergencies, of any lessons that will be missed. Two make-up
lessons will be allowed per semester, if instructor time and studio
space can be arranged. Failure to give notice automatically counts the
student as absent and forfeits the private lesson. HCCS policy
stipulates that the student may be dropped after accumulating in
excess of 12.5 percent of the hours of instruction. This equates to two
absences from your scheduled private lessons. Also, because of
performance or other schedule changes, the instructor may schedule a
different lesson time for the student on occasion. Cooperation between
student and instructor is essential when scheduling private lessons.
NOTE: IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO
WITHDRAW OFFICIALLY FROM A COURSE. Administrative drops
are at the discretion of the instructor. Failure of the student to
withdraw officially will result in the student receiving a grade of "F" in
the course.
