Classification Computing > Computer Support Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Range Three different types of user situations. The situations will range from entry level to high end level use. For example, entry level may be running office applications commonly found on basic computers and high end level use may be running gaming or graphics applications. 2 Definitions Hardware may include components and peripherals. Peripherals refer to input, output, and external storage devices (not just HDs), eg monitors, keyboards, printers, modems, scanners, external hard disks, Optical drives. User needs are those that require solutions provided by the functionality of computer hardware rather than software (operating systems and applications). The candidates must be given access to these requirements prior to being assessed against this unit standard. Performance factor requirements refers to hardware required for the role of the organisation, or the role of the individual in the organisation, or the computer, or digital device. Personal computer for the purposes of this standard means either a stand-alone or networked computer or digital device. 3 Legislation relevant to this unit standard may include but is not limited to the: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Copyright Act 1994; Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act 2008; and any subsequent amendments Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Determine hardware requirements for a personal computer user.
