Range brake cylinders, clutch cylinders. Evidence requirements 1.1 Cylinder operation and layout of component parts are described according to manufacturer’s workshop manual descriptions. Range 1.2 Workshop operations to resleeve a cylinder are described according to manufacturer’s instructions and legislation. Range 1.3 single master cylinder, tandem brake master cylinder. stripping, cleaning, assessing condition of component parts, boring, turning sleeves, fitting sleeves, testing, precision measuring, honing, reassembling. Land Transport Safety Authority transport regulations concerning resleeving of brake hydraulic cylinders are identified. Range manufacturing process requirement, bonded sleeve requirement, press fit sleeve requirement, master and wheel cylinder test requirement. Outcome 2 Prepare hydraulic cylinders for resleeving. Evidence requirements 2.1 Safe working practices are observed throughout the task. Range personal safety, safety of others, machinery and equipment safety. 2.2 Cylinder application and bore size are identified from manufacturer's specifications. 2.3 Cylinder is dismantled according to the sequence and method specified by the manufacturer. 2.4 Component parts are cleaned to enable an assessment of their condition to be carried out. NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Incorporated) SSB Code 101542 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA Expiring unit standard 2.5 Component parts are inspected for wear, corrosion, and damage and a report given to the supervisor. Range 2.6 5432 version 4 Page 3 of 4 visual inspection, precision measurement. The feasibility of resleeving is determined based on relevant factors, and a report is given to the supervisor. Range extent of wear, corrosion and damage, cost of resleeving, availability and cost of replacement, life expectancy, guarantee. Outcome 3 Carry out the resleeving operation. Evidence requirements 3.1 Safe working practices are observed throughout the task. Range personal safety, safety of others, machinery and equipment safety. 3.2 The cylinder is bored to size according to the resleeving manufacturer's specifications. 3.3 The sleeve is machined to suit the cylinder. Range 3.4 brass bore type, stainless steel bore type. The sleeve is installed according to resleeving manufacturer's specifications. Range brass bore type, stainless steel bore type; clearance fit, interference fit. Outcome 4 Finish and test resleeved cylinder. Evidence requirements 4.1 The resleeved cylinder meets the Land Transport Safety Authority transport regulations. 4.2 The cylinder is assembled according to vehicle and/or cylinder manufacturer's specifications and instructions. 4.3 The cylinder performance test meets vehicle and/or cylinder manufacturer's specifications. Please note Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Consent requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
