industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to
clean automotive components, and maintain cleaning

A cleaning method is selected according to the type of component to be
cleaned.
Range:

Safe working practices are carried out throughout the cleaning operation
according to legislative requirements.

component, material type, reaction against chemicals and heat,
sealed component, open component.

breathing vapours; protection against heat; protection to skin,
eyes, feet, and clothes.
Automotive electrical and electronic componentry are protected against damage
before the cleaning operation is commenced.

Equipment and machines are operated according to the product manufacturer’s
instructions.

Automotive components are cleaned so that foreign matter is removed.

Waste is removed from the cleaning area in an environmentally safe manner.

The cleaning area is clean and tidy.
2.2
Cleaning equipment is maintained to the equipment manufacturer’s
specifications and supervisor's instructions.
Range:
removal of grease, oil, dirt and sludge from holding and cleaning
tanks; topping up and renewing cleaning medium; checking the
operation of cleaning machine; maintenance of hoses and leads.
