Board Policy and Administrative Procedure Project – Jim Grivich
The accreditation commission suggested that the Board have administrative roles, and that Board
policies be better segregated to remove administrative tasks. The Board roles will be better delineated
to focus on policy development. The Board works through the Chancellor. League templates and
numbering system could be adopted as a basis for our policies. Procedural portions of existing board
policies will be removed, and new policies recommended. Policies first go through SMT, the Budget
and Planning committee, and then to the Board. This is an opportunity to fix items that don’t work or
to write standardized procedures. The Board is aware of this structure. The document will go through
the shared government structure in the fall before the process is shared. APs are the sole domain of
the Chancellor and not the Board.

