Classification Aeronautical Engineering > Aircraft Servicing Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 All tasks are to be carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures, the enterprise being the organisation carrying out the work. Enterprise procedures referred to in this unit standard are the applicable procedures found in the following: enterprise exposition; manufacturer publications; Government and local body legislation; airworthiness authority requirements. 2 Definition Foreign object debris (FOD) – anything that can find its way into an aircraft engine or flight control mechanisms that could possibly cause damage to aircraft, equipment, or people. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Clean the gas path of the aircraft gas turbine engine. Evidence requirements 1.1 Engine to be cleaned is identified by matching aircraft registration with documentation. 1.2 Resources are obtained and checked for serviceability and status in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range 1.3 may include but is not limited to – tools, publications, cleaning materials, cleaning equipment, safety equipment and clothing. Range location, engine motored over, cleaning medium applied, engine shut down. Outcome 2 Complete activities related to the cleaning task. Evidence requirements 2.1 Post-cleaning engine inspection is carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.2 Post-cleaning engine run is arranged in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range approved ground run area, area cleared of FOD, approved ground run personnel. 2.3 Tools, materials, equipment, and publications are checked and returned to service or storage and/or disposed of in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.4 Work and aircraft area are left ready for further tasks in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.5 Documentation is completed in accordance with enterprise procedures.
