Early Alert Procedures
At the March 20, 2015 District Education Committee (DEC) meeting, the DEC had a lengthy
discussion about Early Alert procedures.
In addition to endorsing the ongoing efforts of the SSSP Committee the DEC made the following
recommendations.
1. Development of an early alert communication plan that includes a text messaging system.
Vice Chancellor Orkin identified the responsible parties as himself, AVC Esquivel-Swinson and
Dean Lasana Hotep.
2. Development of an early alert communication plan that includes sending letters to students on
probation every semester. Associate Vice Chancellor Equivel-Swinson was identified as the
responsible party.
The DEC looks forward to receiving an update on implementation of these recommendations at
their next meeting on April 17, 2015.
