COORDINATOR (SSTUDENT EQUITY/C-YES)
(SEIU Local 1021 Salary Range 95)
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the college Vice-President or Dean of Student Services and oversight from the
District Dean of Student Success and Equity, the EQUITY/C-YES COORDINATOR provides coordination of the
daily operation of the campus success and equity programs and the Center for Your Educational Success (C-YES).
Supervision Received
General direction is usually received from the Dean of Student Success and Equity and/or the Director of Student
Equity.
Supervision Exercised
Supervision and/or advisory is exercised over professional, technical, and clerical staff assigned to ensure the
viability of the incumbent’s respective C-YES Center.
Essential Job Functions
1. Provide leadership in coordinating student success efforts at for the C-YES center the incumbent is
providing supervision for, and to ensure compliance with the Student Success Act of 2012 (SB 1456) and
other related legislation; including the development, implementation, and regular review of the Student
Success and Support Program Plan and the Student Equity Plan—including any required reporting
mandates.
2. Foster and promote student development and success in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and
administration in support of the Student Success and Support Program and Student Equity Plans.
3. Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration to assist their respective college in achieving
enrollment and student success targets as delineated in Student Success and Support Program Plan and the
Student Equity Plan.
4. Provide data and information for student learning outcomes, program learning outcomes, program review,
annual program report, strategic initiatives, student services, student success and support services, student
equity or other related reports as requested.
5. Provide support to their college regarding outreach efforts and support for students in transition from
schools to the community college, including registration events.
6. Collaborate with local service area K-12 administrators and staff to implement create a clear matriculation
process for students from traditionally marginalized populations.
7. Develop, monitor, and implement a calendar that systematically coordinates associated Student Success and
Support Program and Student Equity outreach activities between for their respective college.
8. Collaborate closely with the personnel and with all programming designed to assist students in being fully
matriculated into the incumbents’ respective college.
9. Work closely with faculty and staff to assist in achieving enrollment and student success targets as defined
by the incumbent’s C-YES center.
10. Provide leadership to reporting staff in developing, monitoring, evaluating and assessing annual program
reflections and action plan goals and priorities as pertains to the scope of work for the incumbent’s
respective C-YES center.
11. Develop and monitor budgets and expenditures for the incumbent’s respective C-YES center.
12. Develop and implement a training plan in collaboration with the Office of Student Success and Equity, and
the Director of Student Equity in order to train appropriate staff for matriculation and student equity.

13. Work collaboratively with the Institutional Research and program offices in the collection of annual data for
reporting purposes.
14. Collaborate closely with K-12 service area high schools to arrange outreach events and college fairs, with a
particular emphasis on student equity and outreach.
15. Collaborate with college personnel to market and communicate to outreach and student success efforts.
16. Lead area planning and implementation meetings pertaining to the scope of work of the incumbent’s C-YES
center.
17. Attend professional seminars/conferences related to student success, student equity, matriculation, retention,
and student services and faculty/staff development.
18. Provide data and information as necessary for program review, student services, student success and support
services, and student equity.
19. Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of C-YES specific action plans and program plans.
20. Ensure the evaluations of reporting staff are conducted on a regular and systematic basis in accordance with
collective bargaining agreements and board policies and regulations.
21. Participate in the coordination of concurrent enrollment and dual enrollment efforts by creating a welcoming
and informative atmosphere for high school students interested in enrolling in one or more of the Peralta
College.
22. Serve on standing and ad hoc committees as assigned.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting, Business Administration,
Public Administration or a related field AND four years of experience in performing professional-level
work in the field of activity

2. An equivalent combination of education and qualifying professional experience that would provide the
skills, knowledge, and ability needed to fulfill the duties assigned to the position.
3. Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.
Knowledge of:
 Theory and Practice in creating and equitable student outcomes.
 Theory and Practice in teaching equity-centered pedagogical practices.
 Learning theory and student characteristics for leadership development.
 Philosophy and objectives of the community college.
 Principles of individual and student group development theory and applications.

Budget preparation and control.
Student activities and services at the four PCCD colleges.
Record keeping and report preparation techniques to ensure information is accurately presented and
reported.
Proper English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation in order to compose items such as
correspondence and/or reports.
Customer service principles in order to appropriately interact with students, staff, faculty, and the public.
Current computer operating systems, software applications and office productivity software such as word
processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, presentation, and database programs.
Ability to:
 Develop and direct a comprehensive Student Equity Strategy.
 Effectively represent the District and campuses at community events and present clear, concise,
comprehensive reports to all in attendance.
 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with District and campus administrators,
management, staff, students, diverse community, collaborative partner contacts, independent programs
consultant/trainers, and the public.
 May manage the CTE on-line application process.
 Learn Title V, California Education Code, Merit System Rules, Board Policy, Administrative Regulations
and collective bargaining agreements in the District.
 Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
 Supervise, train, and evaluate personnel.
 Operate computers and their peripherals.
 Use current common software applications in order to accurately enter and retrieve data.
 Plan, administer and supervise a wide variety of programs and staff.

Management
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employees must satisfy all pre-employment requirements to work for the District which include, but are not limited
to, the following items:
REQUIRED FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
Tuberculosis Examination: Prior to employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit evidence
(either skin test or X-ray report) of being free of tuberculosis within the past sixty (60) days. The TB test is a
condition of employment and any expense must be borne by the successful candidate.

Fingerprinting Requirement:
As a condition of employment, all employees working for community colleges in the State of California are required
to be fingerprinted within the first ten (10) working days of the date of employment pursuant to Education Code
Section 88024. The District Office of Human Resources processes fingerprints electronically. During the
employment intake process, new employees will be given information to have their fingerprints taken at another
location.
Immigration Requirement: According to the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the Peralta Community
College District is required to verify that all new employees are:
1) A citizen or national of the United States;
2) An alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States; or
3) An alien authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service to work in the United States.
All new employees are required to complete and sign a verification form and provide documentation attesting that
he/she is a United States citizen, national, or an alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
District Policy: A Social Security Card will be required following selection and prior to completion of the hiring
process. The employment process cannot be completed without a copy of the Social Security Card on file in the
Office of Human Resources.
