Center for Your Educational Success
The C-YES is a starting point for new students enrolling into courses offered by the
four Peralta Colleges. At each Peralta campus, the Center serves as a direct “handoff” point for students from the following populations: formerly dually enrolled high
school students, court or community school graduates, formerly incarcerated, East
Bay College Fund Scholarship recipients, Adult School students, foster youth, and
out of school youth completing high school equivalency or college readiness
programs at community-based organizations and charter schools. The counselor
for the Center will also be the designee for Early Alert for the campus. Students and
prospective students from these targeted populations will receive the following
services:

Open CCC Apply

FAFSA

Orientation

Assessment

Academic Counseling and first year education planning

Screening for and placement in Eligible Programs or Services
(EOPS/CalWORKS/DSPS/Umoja/Learning Communities/etc.)

Financial Aid Counseling

Registration for Student Success Workshops
The Center serves as the first point of contact and “triage” for our secondary and
community partners and their student populations.

Interview dates | hiring committees are being
formed now. Positions have been hired as of last
week and will close on March 30, 2016

March 14, 2016 | Hire Equity Coordinator,
Transitions Liaison, and CAFYES Program
Manager

Hiring dates | hiring process will be accelerated to
meet the needs of the college and most especially
our students

March 14-18, 2016 | Staff Training with
Campus Stakeholders and District OSSE

Staff training | continued training will be
determined after hiring process has began. Staff
training has already commenced

Status |Hiring of Hourly CAFYES Program Manager

As of Friday, February 19, 2016 | Laney College interviewed two prospective
candidates for an hourly CAFYES Program Manager (this is possible because the
budget is loaded)

On Monday, February 22, 2016 | One of the candidates was offered the position on
an hourly basis. Offer was declined and we have since offered the position to
another candidate who has accepted and will begin Wednesday, March 23, 2016


Existing b2b Program for former foster Youth | Is currently being lead by Division

Laney College has an existing b2b Program that serves current and former foster
youth as well as adjudicated youth.

The colleges’ b2b Program is a integrated and supplemental program in the
EOPS/CARE Program.

The EOPS/CARE Program was repurposed more than 5 years ago with the
objective of providing additional support services to assist the significantly under
resourced foster youth population to increase and improve persistence, retention,
completion and transfer rates.

Laney Colleges b2b Program is used as the district model for programing and for
the awarded grant.

The program name is already branded as b2b (bridge to bridge) therefore, the
CAFYES name is for internal recording.
